Now Hear Ensemble at REDCAT! March 30 & 31st

We are looking forward to making our LA premier at REDCAT inside of the one and only Walt Disney Concert Hall!

We will be premiering or own Federico Llach's new work "11 points." Here's a little about the piece in Fede's own words:

"Much research has been done about the limits and characteristics of playing at tempo. How long can we play at a steady beat? How fast or slow is it possible to hold a regular pulse? Furthermore, human perception has its limits when it comes to appreciate the regularities and irregularities of a steady beat; this led researchers to the concept of 'barely noticeable difference' in tempo perception. '11 points' delves into this research by staging human imperfection. The instrumentalists take the sounds of a ping pong match as their 'metronome'. Caution and risk are explored musically by asking the performers something that is actually impossible: to follow the unpredictable bounces of the ping pong ball and to take it as their tempo."

That's right, there will be a live ping pong match. Please com support us on March 30th at 8:30 pm or March 31st at 7pm!

Now Hear Ensemble is excited to announce their first official tour! Beginning in the fall of 2013, Now Hear Ensemble will embark on a “Made in California Tour”, in which they will travel to various music schools in California to collaborate with the composers and perform an original composition by each. This process will be recorded in a series of documentaries highlighting the composer-musician interaction, interviews with the composers, and the collaborative process. We have received 26 proposals, and are currently in the process of selecting 8-12 to be commissioned and performed for the tour. The resulting series will create and document the dialogue that takes place between the composer, performers, and audience. Stay tuned for an announcement of dates and locations!

Eureka! We are planning a California tour. We'll be visiting major cities across the state, playing music by Californian composers. Details to be announced, stay tuned!
